The development strategy of energy in the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030, foresee an increase in the share of energy obtained from renewable energy sources in the energy balance of the Republic of Serbia as a strategic goal.

We are happy to share a new article written by two lawyers from our firm, Nikola Djordjević, Partner, and Marija Vukčević, Senior Associate, on the topic of tax incentives for green energy production in Serbia. The article explores the current state of green taxes and incentives in Serbia, as well as the potential benefits and challenges of implementing a more ambitious green transition and decarbonization strategy.

The article argues that Serbia has an opportunity to leverage its abundant renewable energy resources and align its tax system with EU standards and best practices. By introducing more green taxes and incentives, Serbia could stimulate investments in green technologies, reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, improve its environmental performance, and create new jobs and economic opportunities.

The article also provides practical recommendations for policymakers, investors, and businesses on how to design and implement effective green tax policies and incentives that can support the green transition and decarbonization of the Serbian economy and industry.
