A significant feature allows retired persons to engage lawfully, helping address labour shortages while enabling supplementary income. The law grants engaged persons legal status, guarantees a minimum net hourly wage, and mandates employer registration via the Employment Agency’s electronic platform alongside payment of pension, disability, and health insurance contributions, ensuring social protections.
Crucially, engagement will not affect existing entitlements like pensions or student benefits. It imposes key restrictions, including a maximum 12-hour daily working time, and assigns enforcement to the State Labour Inspectorate and Public Revenue Office, with substantial fines for violations. This law aims to formalize the labour market, enhance worker protection, and increase transparency through a centralized digital register.
