Serbia: Workers on Sick Leave – Free Movement or Permission to Move Required, or a Fake News for Clickbait?

Fake news is, among other things, created to sustain a situation in which workers do not know how to exercise their rights during sick leave.

A clear example is the news at daily portal stating that border police have access to data from the “E-Sick Leave – Employer” system, which only deepens uncertainties that are not even properly addressed in applicable regulations: are workers on sick leave allowed to leave their place of residence, and under what conditions?

The key question remains: is it possible to restrict freedom of movement to worker at sick leave without a clearly prescribed procedure for issuing such permissions — especially when the consequences may include loss of salary compensation or even termination of employment?

These are issues that require serious public debate. More on this in this text provided by Partner Ivan Milošević, from JPM Belgrade office.
