New Serbian Law: E-Sick Leave – Employer (eBolovanje – Poslodavac)

The new Law on e-Sick Leave introduces a fully digital system for managing temporary incapacity for work in Serbia, effective from January 1, 2026.

This system enables the automatic electronic exchange of sick leave data between doctors, employers, and the Health Insurance Fund. Employers must register for the “eBolovanje – Poslodavac” platform via the eGovernment portal by this deadline.

The reform eliminates the need for employees to submit paper sick leave certificates personally. This digitalization significantly reduces administrative burdens, speeds up procedures, and ensures more efficient communication for all parties. The platform allows employers to receive confirmations, submit requests for salary compensation calculations, and file objections electronically. While initial adaptation phases may present challenges, the long-term benefits of a streamlined and paperless system are substantial. Our firm is prepared to guide employers through the compliance process for this new digital framework.
