MONTENEGRO – Wastewater Collection and Treatment Plant in Podgorica

Kuzu Group and Alkatas signed EUR 47.3 million agreement for the construction of a Wastewater Collection and Treatment Plant with the Capital city of Podgorica.

On 10 June 2022, representatives of the Capital city of Podgorica signed an Agreement for the construction of a Wastewater Collection and Treatment Plant with a consortium of Kuzu Group and Alkatas. The project arises as a response to ecological challenges the Capital city faces and helps in harmonizing Montenegro with European standards in this area.

It is funded jointly by the KfW, WBIF (Western Balkan Investment Framework), and the city of Podgorica, which initially received 10 million EUR for this project from the European Commission and an additional 23 million EUR through the WBIF, non-refundable.

Capital city representatives expect this project to further stimulate economic growth and attract investors, as well as secure a healthier living environment for its residents. The Wastewater Collection and Treatment Plant is expected to be finalized and operating in three years.
