Meet the CBAM: Serbia Aligns with EU Climate Policy

Serbia has taken a major step toward the EU’s climate framework.

On 3 December 2025, the National Assembly adopted two key laws harmonizing national regulation with the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), ahead of their entry into force on 1 January 2026. These new rules introduce taxation on carbon-intensive production and imports, marking a significant shift for industries ranging from fertilizers and cement to steel, aluminium, and electricity.
